Don't engage with the combat because it's terrible. It gets worse the further you get and the best way around it is either to just pancake everything with a heavy weapon, or just power through and lifegem. So if you walk up to some grunt, take a swing, and your weapon doesn't break their poise, they'll just swing on you and you'll take damage. I wasn't even talking about player poise, I was talking about enemy poise which doesn't break unless your weapon poise beats there's. Unlike Adaptability which wants you to hit a threshold just to improve the game feel.Īnd poise does work, you just don't know how, but here's the thing. You just gradually put points in over time and it'll be fine. No-one cares that much about putting points into vigor and it's on you, there's no immediate impetus to put points in vigor. But the need to get a reasonable roll and drinks that don't take a lifetime makes you. The thing with Adaptability is that no-one really wants to put points into it. It's encounter design is relatively terrible and it's constantly terrible. In DS2 a gang of monsters will literally walk about of places you can't see just because you walked down a street and it won't be just one guy jumping you, it'll be 5. This is the good type of ambushes you'll see in better souls likes. They typically come from places you weren't looking or are staged to be ambushes even if it's not apparent what it will be. I may not be Ng+7 experienced but I've seen pretty much all there is.Īmbushes in ER are typically visible if you're cautious or not instantly on you if they're not. Nah you're definitely the inexperienced one, I've beaten ER twice over and running on my 3rd. To be fair I was too high on this because of how much I personally lived the original but wow am I ever disappointed Game is worse in absolutely every aspect. I could go on about traveling to the hub to level up and then retracing steps all the time too but my point is this- how did this studio go from such a beautifully crafted game in sanctuary to this mess. I just want to know who tested this game and thought yes this is fun. I guess you can roll off the edge of the platform and then spend the game climbing ladders and getting knocked around. Chasing these mages while they summon several of these big abomination enemies while they potentially teleport into other abomination enemies while they have homing attacks that blast me across the screen for OHKO and my only defense is to make this giant dodge roll and hope the roll doesn’t end right in front of one of these huge guys is really questionable design. Loved the exploration, level design, everything- I just thought it was such a well done game.īut wow am I ever let down with sacrifice. Salt and Sanctuary was one of my favorite games of all time and i game daily and have played just about everything.
